2018 PRO23 Application Opens Nov 15

Following an exciting second year in 2017, CCL PRO23 applications will open November 15th for the 2018 summer season.  Eighteen (18) sides competed in the 2016 inaugural season, with 16 additional teams joining for 2017, bringing the total number of teams for last year to 34. With such explosive growth, we don’t necessarily expect to see a similar response for the 2018 season, but nonetheless, PRO23 offers a compelling opportunity for clubs to add to the peak of their developmental pyramid.

The market for post-youth-soccer summer leagues is unique, and our commitment to regionalize scheduling while maintaining high-quality competition has made CCL PRO23 an attractive league for college players looking to continue development in the off-season.  Clubs offer a familiar environment to former players, and give them another opportunity to represent the organization that helped shape their soccer careers. Furthermore, players reentering the community bring a level of match play and competition that many clubs were previously lacking. Completing the developmental pyramid, CCL PRO23 offers benefits to the player, club, and community.

Men’s and Women’s teams are split into divisions based on their geographic location. After each team has played one another, the regular season finishes, and the top seeds (and if necessary, deserved wild cards) compete in semifinal matches to earn a spot in the PRO23 Championship, where the season culminates. After two years, we have yet to see consecutive champions. In 2016, Potomac Men’s PRO23 team and McLean Women’s PRO23 team won the titles, but in 2017, Beach FC Men’s PRO23 team and Loudoun Women’s PRO23 team took those titles.

We are excited to receive applications for 2018 and are looking forward to another successful summer! CCL PRO23 is another example of CCL’s ability to deliver innovative programming to its membership and push the game forward in the region.
