Charlottesville, VA (February 10, 2017) – The Club Champions League (CCL) is pleased to announce that Ellicott City Soccer Club has been promoted from CCL II to CCL beginning the Fall 2017.
“Ellicott City has demonstrated a professional and genuine commitment to developing their club from within and meeting the standards of excellence of the CCL. Since being accepted to CCL II two years ago, Tim Ryerson and Carmen Juliano (Ellicott City Technical Leadership) understood that CCL was a viable platform but would need to work extremely hard to meet the criteria of our top division, CCL. They have met and exceeded their commitment to the league, and we are proud to have Ellicott City be our first CCL II club to be promoted to CCL,” commented Brian Kuk, CCL Executive Director.
Ellicott City SC is located in Howard County, Maryland–one of the most prestigious soccer counties in the United States. With over 10,000 youth soccer players participating in the county, players now have an exceptional opportunity to play at the top level of CCL, the best regional youth soccer league in the United States.
“The vote of confidence that the CCL Board of Directors has placed in Ellicott City is humbling. To participate in the best regional league in the USA validates that we are on the right track, that our philosophy of long term development facilitated by top level coaching and in a club centric environment aligns us with these other storied clubs,” said Tim Ryerson, Ellicott City Executive Director.
CCL is home to 2016 US Youth Soccer (USYS) National Champions, Loudoun 16 Boys and McLean 15 Boys. In 2016, the McLean 19 Girls and Loudoun 17 Boys advanced to the USYS National Finals. Additionally, CCL clubs took home three Region I Championships and 14 State Championships.
“There is no question that the CCL quality of competition is preparing players for the next level. At Beach FC, we see it on a week-to-week basis and are excited to have Ellicott City enjoy the benefits that we enjoy. We are consistently seeing over 200 CCL student-athletes achieving their goal of playing collegiate soccer or beyond. For our membership, the CCL is a superb balance of travel and competition for the college bound athlete,” stated Steve Danbusky, Beach FC Executive Director.
Ellicott City will also participate in CCL PRO23 beginning this summer and will continue to offer developmental opportunities by participating at the CCL II level.
“Ellicott City and the CCL are committed to offering Howard County players competitive matches. Currently, you have players leaving Howard County trying to find a soccer solution. Now soccer families have a choice right here at home. With all that CCL has to offer, including great league competition, CCL College Showcases, CCL College Combine and more, why wouldn’t players stay local,” commented Ryerson.
